Mid-Century Glam in the Woods of Breckenridge

Living in Los Angeles can be wonderful for so many reasons: Sunshine, tacos (shout out to Salazaar and Guisados!) and of course, the beach. But when Christmas season arrived—and the fake snow at the Grove started to get us down—we realized it was time to get out there and find a real winter wonderland.

Enter this stunning Airbnb in Breckenridge. Nestled in Colorado at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Breckenridge is known for its world class ski hills and lovely main street. Packed with our furry pals and snow gear, all we needed was a cozy home to call our own for a long weekend, ideally somewhere with warm blankets and a crackling fireplace that did not sacrifice on style or design.

Enter the mid-century glam chalet in the woods. We were so lucky to find this cabin, owned and designed by Jennifer and Tony Reynolds, that met all of our decor dreams—and then some. Featuring three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a newly renovated and fully stocked kitchen, a large den with the coziest leather sofa in the world, a stylish living room, outdoor hot tub, and THREE fireplaces, this cabin worked hard to elevate our experience from the typical cabin in the woods to something a little more serene and elegant.

Our favorite detail was perhaps the star of the dining room, a gas fireplace, repurposed from a wood oven, that could be turned on with a click of the button. It made having dinner at the lovely wood dining table a real delight, especially with the sound of jazz drifting in from the mid-century record console in the main hall. Cozy blankets and pillows were in abundance and our evenings were quiet and romantic and scored by the sound of the snow falling outside, just what we had hoped for.

When we were ready for some adventure, we alternated between the five minute drive to the slopes (just as heavenly as we could have hoped), and for our ground dwelling days, grabbed our dog and trekked out to the many nearby trails where we found ourselves surrounded by snowy evergreens, with nothing to hear but the sound of birds calling and the crunch of our snow boots. And there, in that peaceful oasis, we realized we’d found it: the perfect winter moment.
