Hand-crafted charcuterie boards, hand-blown glass vessels, wooden serving trays, and culinary tomes are just a few of the items on-hand at the newly opened etúHome in Charleston. The company’s second location (the first store to open was in Atlanta), offers an array of goods for the culinary enthusiast such as modular steel kitchen cabinets, glass display wall units, and working kitchen islands. “The storefront allows us to do what we do best: entertain,” says Stacy Borocz, etúHome founder and president of the 2,000-square-foot space. “And, allows customers to see and interact with all of our pieces styled in an authentic way.” 

As for the store’s prime location on King Street, it was a deliberate decision. “As a company, we did extensive research on where to bring etúHome next and decided to stay close to home and expand further within the Southeast,” says Borocz. “We believe our range of luxury European kitchen accents, found objects and artisanally crafted products resonate with the Charleston community and blend perfectly into the city’s famous architecture and historical, European roots.”

Borocz shares her top five in-store items, and gives practical entertaining tips and table design advice.

5 In-store Favorites

“Oprah’s Favorite Things boards, in fact two of them,” says Borocz. “The newest on Oprah’s list is the COCOCOZY Modern Plank. And our #1 best-selling board, due in part to Oprah’s love for it in 2019 is our White Mod Rectangle Charcuterie board.”

“Our reclaimed serving trays and charcuterie boards are iconic to the brand, and of course, very on trend right now,” says Borocz. “As people go back to hosting more and more, we’ve seen our different serving trays have a resurgence recently. Each of them offer something different and cater to different styles of hosting. For example, being able to easily go outside, or having a pop-color for the coffee table, or create a countertop spread. A modern kitchen can never have enough boards, we like to call it ‘Craft your Stack’ for an easy way to reach for the size needed, making entertaining easy.” 

“One of my newest favorites is our Tartan Serving Board collection,” says Borocz. “The contemporary look mixed with the reclaimed wood creates a perfect addition to a modern sustainable kitchen. They are ideal for layering with other boards and ‘pattern clashing’ is so in right now.”

“The organic and sculptural shapes of our Heirloom Glass Bottles are our newest standout decorative accessory,” says Borocz. “With the simple addition of stem greenery or for use as a styling vessel on the coffee table, instantly elevates one’s living space. This effortless style is even sustainable as its mouth-blown from recycled glass.” 

“A top furniture item that garners immediate attention in our stores is our Glass Display Cabinet,” says Borocz. “The glass unit is easily accessible, and the steel cabinet is modern yet purposeful allowing favorite pieces to be displayed while adding a sophisticated and open look to the kitchen at the same time. A perfect marriage between art and function.”

Charcuterie Boards

“During the height of the pandemic, personal appetizers became one of my go-to’s with the help of our Mini Charcuterie Boards,” says Borocz. “The host is able to prepare these ahead of time and guests can pick one up and enjoy their very own tasting board. “

Cloches

“A must have for spring and summer servingware is a recycled glass demijohn cloche,” says Borocz. “Not only do they protect food from insects, but they elevate the ambiance of dining outdoors during the warmer months. The pieces range in size from a massive and impressive large cloche to a smaller more practical everyday dome. Each piece is mouth blown in Europe one by one, and even the untrained eye can instantly appreciate its uniqueness.”  

Vintage Pieces

“One of the easiest ways to make a gathering more memorable [big or small] is to add a vintage element to the table, such as beautiful, found silver flatware or distressed wood serving boards,” explains Borocz. “The expansive footprint of our Charleston store allows us to offer a large, one-of-a-kind selection of European found kitchen accents and furniture.”

Glass Carafes

“Always have a few Glass Carafes on hand to serve infused waters and seasonal cocktails,” says Borocz. “These vessels are a personal favorite due to its snug lid that filters while beautifully pouring refreshments for guests.”

“Fresh florals can complete any table setting,” says Borocz. “Whether from the market or picked straight from the garden, displayed in a Colorblock Flower Vase or in Sphere Bud Vases for a special touch at each place setting.”

Think Presentation

“Every alfresco entertainer should have a stylish serving tray to easily carry drinks, food and glassware to the table,” says Borocz. “Preferably one with a lip, so nothing falls off from the kitchen to the table.”

“Tapas Planks or Mini Charcuterie Boards are perfect not just to have different appetizers and charcuterie, but they can serve as actual plates or even chargers,” explains Borocz. “We’ve seen the board as the new plate emerge as hosts create more interest on their tablescapes.” 

Set The Scene

“Florals in glass vases, greenery in antique vessels or even everyday fruits or veg cascading across the length of the table can all make for beautiful backdrops on any table,” says Borocz. “My tip is to always pick what’s in season, like gourds during the fall or tulips or citrus in the spring, as it sets the theme for the table without being too kitsch.”
