The decade of subway tile is gone and we are seeing an emergence of unique and stylish tile used creatively throughout the home. Here are four exciting tile trends and a few tips for bringing them to life.
1. Bold
Color is making a big splash with tile this year. Bold jewel tones like deep cerulean, peacock, and shades of magenta are hot. So are ‘60s and ‘70s inspired avocado, mustard and orange. A little goes a long way with bold colored tiles. You can play around in a small space like a bathroom shower or entryway wall or floor with a bold tile. Or you can go big with a kitchen backsplash. Just remember tile is more permanent than paint, so choose your bold wisely.
2. Texture
Tile with texture can create depth in a space and allow for less decor. Think of a pebbled tile in an entryway or a grass cloth tile on one wall of an open dining space. Wood like floor tiles with raised texture are not only beautiful but functional too in kitchens and bathrooms where floors get wet.
3. Pattern
From full blown murals to simple geometric patterns, there are so many ways to use patterned tile to tell a story in your space. When choosing patterned tiles in a space, take your time to determine the statement you want to make. Use them as the design itself and keep other details to a minimum.
4. Functional
