Timbers Resorts has made quite the reputation for themselves over the last two decades, establishing a portfolio of properties in the world’s most sought-after destinations. These include ski, golf, leisure and beach locations. Their latest project, Timbers Kauai, combines the last 3 items on that list in a masterful way.
Ever the innovators in the hospitality industry, Timbers Kauai is not only a luxurious, one-of-a-kind resort, but also a real estate development. There are 47 private residences on the property, all offering an oceanfront location like no other on the entire island. These residences can be purchased in its entirety, but fractional ownership opportunity is also available. We had the opportunity to visit the resort, and long story short it is paradise perfected.

The resorts sits on a massive 450-acre development, named Hokuala, which is entirely owned and operated by Timbers. As guests, we had access to the entire property, which made for exceptional hiking, biking, and running.
The first thing that we found attractive about Timbers is its location on the island. The world famous Hanalei Bay is less than an hour away, and Poipu is less than 30 minutes away. It’s perfectly positioned as a basecamp for the entire island, with all of Kauai’s star attractions being only a short drive away. This includes Kalalau Lookout at the top of Waimea Canyon, which took us only 90 minutes to get to from the resort.

Timbers is also a 5-minute drive from the airport (LIH) which is ideal, because it allows for the first and last days on Kauai to be just as fulfilling and adventure-packed as all of the days in between. Stress-free travel days: you can’t beat ’em!
The homes of Timbers Kauai are all extremely spacious, featuring contemporary interiors with an immaculate level of finish. These are ideal for groups of friends or large families, as they can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people.

The oceanfront views are a dream. We enjoyed delicious cocktails as we watched the sun set over the private beaches, historical lighthouses, jagged cliffs, and beautiful coastline all within sight. Not to mention the infinity pools making for a wonderful foreground as we gazed out into the Pacific Ocean. In the mornings, we also got to see whales off into the distance, so make sure you bring a zoom lens on your camera to get a good view!

The restaurant on the property, Hualani’s, is a farm-to-table experience with an absolutely delicious menu. Our go-to option for lunch were their world class poke bowls, and for dinner we enjoyed their seared ahi-tuna and wok seared chicken bulgogi.

Hualani’s was named after a wonderful lady we met, who gave us a tour of the golf course on Hokuala. She was an absolute sweetheart. Say hello to her for us when you visit Timebrs! Oh, and want to hear something really awesome? The farm that sources the ingredients for Hualani’s is located right on the property. We’ll give you a glimpse of the farm later.

There’s nothing like that relaxed, authentic Hawaiian feeling we felt as the sun went down, our new tans glowing by the fire-pit, the gentle breeze swaying the palm trees, and the serene sound of crashing waves providing the soundtrack.

Kauai has an endless amount of island adventures to experience. Coming back to the paradise that Timbers offers after a long day of exploration is second-to-none. We recommend grabbing a cocktail from the bar (21+ only!), relaxing in the heated pool, and watching the stars.

Sunsets on the property are so scenic that you might just become Instagram famous.
If you play golf, you’ve come to the right place. There is a signature Jack Nicklaus designed course right on the property, with unparalleled views, hole after hole. The course has recently been renovated, and has been named a top 10 golf course on Hawaii by just about every major golf publication.
One of our favorite things about Timbers is the surrounding nature on the massive property. There is endangered bird conservation, beautiful greenery, interesting vegetation, lush farms, and much more—all available for you to explore.
If you’re planning a trip to Kauai, and are bringing along family, or a group of friends, there is no better place to stay than Timbers. When traveling as a couple it may not make sense, especially since there would be a few vacant bedrooms. However, if you’re venturing to Kauai with 4-8 people, it becomes the best option. We hope you get to experience the magic of Timbers in the near future. Book your stay today! If you have any questions about the resort, please connect with. us on Instagram. We’d love to hear from you.
