6 Ideas for Making Outdoor Entertaining Easier

The outdoor entertaining season is upon us, and though social media makes it look completely effortless, it does take some work to get things ready. Here are some ideas to lighten the load during outdoor entertaining season.

Serving Trays

Trays help corral items for outdoors to make the back and forth from the kitchen simpler. Gather serving trays you already own, hunt for treasures at the thrift store or shop new. Look for trays with sturdy handles that can hold weight like plates, vases and wine bottles.

Faux Ceramics

Faux ceramics and dinnerware are lightweight, easy to store, and make for quick cleanup. Invest in a set of faux ceramics or salvage a set from the thrift store. Try bamboo plates or enamelware for hard-to-break dish options, and serve up drinks in a chic set of ribbed acrylic tumblers. Dollar stores and big discount stores make decorative styles. Make room on a shelf near your outdoor space to store your party-proof glasses so they’re super handy.

Bug Fans

No one likes the buzzing company of insects while eating dinner. Use fly-deterring table fans to prevent insects from joining the party.

Repurposed Indoor Furniture

Get creative with the items you already own. Bring stools or a wooden bench outside for more seats at the dining table. Don’t forget about poufs and lightweight side tables that can do double duty outside. Give new life to an indoor rug you stashed away out on a balcony or a deck.

Outdoor Throws

Throw blankets are useful for many purposes. Though the obvious use is as a cozy coverup, you can throw them on top of a bench for a softer spot to land while adding color and texture. Or use them on top of your table as a tablecloth.
