March is National Quilting Month: Here’S How to Decorate With Timeless Quilts

We’ve seen it in patchwork jackets and grandma inspired cottage core spaces, quilt inspired décor and fashion has had a resurgence. The art of quilting dates back centuries in numerous parts of the world. What’s notable about quilts is their place in history as a means for function warmth and form art in one.  They can be vintage and modern, beautiful, and warm. Here’s how to invite them into your space.

Bedding

Brighten your bedding with a patterned quilt that needs little adornment. Beds made with quilts are a cinch to make every morning and a strong pattern can make a strong statement in your bedroom.

Wall Art

Ever eye a beautiful modern quilt and think it should be displayed on a wall? Well, you’re in good company. Quilts like rugs, deserve a different kind of real estate — an elevated place to adore their beauty and craftwork.

Decor

Vintage or old quilts, either thrifted or hand-me-down, can be used in so many ways around the house as decor. Cut them up to make quilted throw pillows for an eclectic space with a cottage look. Old quilts also make great throw blankets or upholstery covers. Add one to the top of a bench or use one to reupholster a fabric headboard.
