Who doesn’t love fall and the beautiful elements of nature that inspire us this season to make our homes cozy and comfortable? Social media is covered in visual ideas for the perfect fall decor. Here at SHLTR, we like to keep it simple, pulling from nature and decor we already have on hand. Here are three simple ways to add some fall spice to your home this cozy season.
1. Front Porch
If you want to keep it simple, focus your efforts on the front porch. Think in threes to make your porch pop.
- Edibles – Start with the obvious like pumpkins and gourds from your own garden, a neighbor’s or from the grocery.
- Foliage – like potted mums, a dried floral wreath or a bucket, pedestal or vase filled with dried flowers or grasses.
- Rugs, blankets or pillows. Layer a warm rug under your doormat. Add some throw pillows or a cozy blanket on a bench, swing or set of chairs. Use what you have stored away, thrift or swap items with a neighbor. Think sustainably wherever possible.
2. TableTop
Bring the feeling of fall to your dining table with votive candles, and beautiful bouquets. Make it modern with a silver platter filled with white gourds. Go vintage with antique glassware and fall foliage like dried corn. Get creative with platters or table runners you already own.
3. Warm Accents
Adding chunky blankets, macrame baskets and plush or layered rugs throughout the house feels cozy. You don’t need a lot of items to make the place feel warm. Even an inexpensive fleece blanket thrown over the back of a chair or on a bench with a fall inspired pillow, will energize your space.
