7 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Home’s Entryway

Entryways are workhorses. They take a beating by being a dump zone for shoes, keys, bags, and junk mail. And they are often an oversight—yet, it’s also where you greet any guests the moment they come through your door. So why not make this space as welcoming as it deserves to be? Here are some easy tips to make your entryway organized, stylish, and ready for anything.

Shoe Storage

A “no shoes in the house” rule is a good one for a hygienic home and for rug and carpet longevity. This shoe cabinet is one part shoe storage, one part countertop. Or try a shoe storage bench that can store eight to 12 pairs of shoes.

Hall Tree

What is a hall tree, you ask? It’s a multifunctional piece of furniture that is made for entryways. It serves as a seating and storage area, and often includes convenient hooks and slots for bins and baskets. This solid hardwood hall tree has a full-size bench and drop-down doors for a clean appearance.

Benches and Stools

If you don’t want a hall tree, try a bench with a shelf in your entryway as a place to sit and put on shoes. Or place two ottoman stools with storage near the door.

Mirror

Adding a mirror to your entryway is useful for checking how you look before you walk out the door, but it also gives an illusion of extra space. This wood mirror serves up double duty with its shelf and brass pegs for added storage. This accent wall mirror has a linear look and could be hung parallel to a doorway for visual interest.

Hooks and Racks

Every entryway needs hooks to hang coats, dog leashes, extra tote bags—you name it.  This brass swivel hanging rack will handle your clothes and hats with style. Or these modern and natural single wood wall hooks can be grouped and hung in any pattern to maximize space in a minimalist way.

Baskets

As the seasons change, having baskets to drop essentials you use on the way out the door is helpful. Make a basket for items like sunscreen, hats, scarves, mittens, or anything you need before you head out the door. These hanging baskets save space because they can be stashed on a wall hook on the wall.

Wallpaper

Boost an area of your entryway with a peel and stick wallpaper. Try something bold to bring attention to the wall with a floral print or a geometric pattern.
