Design Forward Front Porch Ideas for More Curb Appeal

Spring is here and you might be thinking about freshening up your front porch for the warmer days ahead. Your front porch is the face of your home, so making key design statements can really boost your curb appeal. Here some of tips.

New Front Door

Hate your front door? Replace it! Go for a door that has the personality you want. Or accessorize it. Did you know you can replace the glass in your front door? Or apply panels and board and batten to give it some dimension. Just search “front door makeovers” online and see all the ways you can jazz it up.

Mailbox/House Numbers

Accessorizing with decorative house numbers or a new mailbox can really transform the front entry. You can DIY your own accessories or buy a fresh and modern house number-and-planter combo. Install it, add a real or faux plant, and enjoy your new curb appeal.

Privacy Screen or Trellis

If you have an open wall on your front porch, a privacy screen or a trellis can add some architectural interest. Vertical slat walls are popular right now and are fairly easy to install. A trellis creates a vertical design element and allows you to introduce a garden feature like a climbing vine of flowers.

Painted Floor

Changing the floor conditions of your front porch can also make a big impact. If you have a concrete front porch, give it a makeover with cement paint. Be sure to patch any cracks beforehand (watch some tutorials first). Stenciled front porches are also popular and an easy endeavor for a beginner project.
