Cold Weather Accessories for Your Next Snowy Stay

If you’re headed out on a cabin adventure where snow is in store, make sure you’re prepared for the outdoors. Here are some accessories to help keep you warm whether you are frolicking on a trail or sitting by an outdoor fireplace.

Hand Warmers

Good news! Disposable or reusable handwarmers can come along on the plane either through carry on or checked bags. Disposable hand warmers are an inexpensive and convenient way to keep your hands, feet and sleeping bag warm. They are air activated and last for up to eight hours. Battery charged, reusable, pocket-sized handwarmers are another handwarmer option. They are a bit more expensive, but get the job done without going in the trash afterwards.

Hats, Socks and Gloves

Warm hats, socks, gloves and even thermal wear are essentials for cold weather adventures, especially if you are staying in remote areas. In the winter wilderness it’s always better to be prepared.

Warm Coat

Make sure you have a warm, weather-resistant coat if you’re staying somewhere snowy and remote. Bonus points if your coat has lots of zippered pockets for a phone, identification and snacks. It’s always a good idea to be prepared just in case you lose your way out on a hike or the heat goes out.

Blankets

Travel blankets in a zip-up bag are handy and compact if you’re flying and need space in your baggage. If you’ve got room in the car, throw in a few inexpensive fleece blankets from home. Blankets will come in handy for cutting the chill while sitting outside or layering at bedtime.
