5 Easy Weekend Paint Projects That Transform

Even the smallest of paint projects can give a space a boost and provide a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction in just one day.

Baseboards: Have you looked closely at your baseboards lately? They can take a beating and baseboards—especially those in entries, mudrooms and bathrooms—can get dirty and scuffed quickly. A good dusting and a fresh coat of paint will make your baseboards look new again.

Paint a Door: A painted door can bring in a whole new vibe to a space. And it doesn’t have to be an exterior door. Closet, bathroom and bedroom doors are fair game for a new look. Choose an accent color that you love in the room the door is in and paint the door in that shade. Black or charcoal gray doors also make a statement and have a classic yet modern feeling.

Ceiling: A ceiling is often overlooked for a paint refresh. Maybe your white ceiling is dirty and dusty and just needs a fresh coat of the same shade. Or maybe it needs a bold color to set it apart. Search online for imaginative ceiling paint concepts, and you’ll see why this is a shortcut to a big change in a room.

Accent Wall: Pick a wall in a kitchen, a living space or a bedroom and give it a go. Freehand patterned accent walls are popular. You pick a pattern and give it a whirl. From brush strokes to dots or simple lines and stencils, there are numerous ways to make your wall really shine.

Furniture: Paint a piece of furniture that isn’t too big like a pair of barstools, a bench, a small dresser, or a bookcase. One little pop of color has the power to imbue a whole room with a new energy.
